Granville Barrington (Barry) Barrett, Jr.
May 5, 1962 – August 17, 2016
Granville, Jr. fondly known as ‘Barry’, ‘Boxcar’, ‘Pride and Joy, Baby Boy’, was born in Lewes, Delaware, and educated in the former Lewes School District. He continued his education at Job Corps in Roanoke, VA. He also attended Truck Driver Training School. Barry was very personable, never met a stranger, and greeted you with a beautiful smile. He enjoyed having a good time! He loved his family and reached out to everyone. He was always the same; ‘what you see is what get’.
Barry worked primarily in construction, mixing and pouring concrete, and most recently, as a Registered Flagger. He was a member of the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA). Barry’s Christian training had its foundation at St. George AME Church. He later attended and diligently served the Victory Praise and Worship Center, Millsboro, DE.
On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia, Barry quietly and peacefully passed away.
