Viola Campfort was affectionately known by family and friends as ‘Mme Silibon’. She passed away at the age of 65 on October 26. 2016, at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation after suffering a long illness for the past 9 years.
Viola was born to Akilo Xavier and Clarina Jean-Louis on October 25, 1951 in Precipice, Haiti. She married her husband Benoit Campfort on January 10, 1970 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage. Viola lived most her adult life in Haiti and joined her husband in Delaware in 1999 with their children.
Viola was primarily a homemaker, shopkeeper and great merchandiser. With courage and intelligence, she showed her family what she was capable of. Viola was a tough woman. She never stop trying until she succeeded. Viola was the most generous person we’ve ever known. She provided shelter to many throughout her lifetime. Viola was a great disciplinarian.
Viola is survived by her husband, Benoit Campfort; her daughter Jaquotte Campfort; three step children, Berlin Campfort, Wilky Campfort and Evens Campfort. She also raised several children as her own, Roselene Campfort, Rosette Campfort, Wilner Jean-Louis, Aurela Jean-Louis, Rosenna Jean-Louis and Frandy Jean-Louis. Viola had seven grand-children, Hundra Campfort, Lorissa Campfort, Nashley Campfort, Jason Campfort, Jamal Campfort, Kayla Campfort and Kylie Campfort.; one sister in-law, Marie Therese Campfort and 1 brother in-law, Aldajuste Campfort; several sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, Godsons and many friends.
