Gerald Levi Brown, son of the late Phyllis Edwina (Brown) Carrol and James Green was born on June 9, 1961 in Denton, Maryland and departed his life at the age of 55 on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Gerald graduated from North Caroline High School in 1980. He was employed at Colonel Richardson High School as a custodian and retired on July 1, 2015 after 31 years of faithful service.
He accepted the Lord as his personal savior in 2011 and was a member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Church in Denton, Maryland.
He loved sports including boxing, basketball, football and especially enjoyed watching the North Caroline and Colonel Richardson High School basketball playoff games. Gerald was a diehard Ravens fan and supported them through their wins and losses. He was also an expert on sports statistics. He loved watching movies at home and enjoyed going to the movie theatre. Gerald also loved eating out at the Golden Coral and at Bullocks where he really enjoyed Bullock’s ice cream. His favorite dish was meatloaf. Aunt Dalphine loved making him turkey meatloaf and regular meatloaf as much as he enjoyed eating it.
Gerald loved his family and enjoyed spending time with Aunt Dalphine and Uncle Gerald in Severna Park. When he was not there, they were spending time with him and his brother, Darin, at Gerald’s house in Denton. He also loved spending time with his brother, Darin and family. Gerald loved Darin dearly and they were as close as brothers could possibly be. They were there for each other throughout the years and had lots of fun together. Gerald enjoyed holiday family gatherings and the family enjoyed his presence at all of them. Gerald also enjoyed spending time with his cousins in Denton, Wanola, Vernon and Kingfish. He loved all of his cousins but he spent a lot of time with these three. He also enjoyed spending time with his good friend, Melvin Trice, a lifelong friend.
Gerald was very outgoing and anyone who met him loved him. He was the most loving and giving person who always had a smile on his face. In fact, he was so giving that his family had to remind him to keep something for himself. He had a big heart and would help anyone who needed his help. He was very humble and mild-mannered. He took pride in himself and his belongings, especially his car which he personally kept clean at all times.
In his younger days, he liked going out to clubs and was an excellent dancer and DJ.
Preceding Gerald in death was his mother, Phyllis Edwina (Brown) Carrol; grandparents, William Saulsbury and Christina Brown; four uncles, Reginald, William Jr., Norman and Richard Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Darin Brown (Karen) of Denton; three nieces, Tamika Baynard, Brittany Brown, Briana Brown and one nephew, Lydell Beulah; one uncle, Kenneth Brown (Barbara) of North Carolina; four aunts, Sharon Brown (Severna Park); Dalphine Cager (Gerald) of Severna Park; Thelma Wallace (Severna Park) and Ophelia Brown (Bowie) and a host of cousins and close friends.
