Vaughn was born June 9th 1957 at Peninsula Regional Hospital. He graduated from Mardela High School. He was recognized for his artistic talents throughout his years. A drawing of his alma mater, Mardela High School remains to be seen in the front office today.
Vaughn married Sharon Coard of Berlin, Maryland. He served time in the National Guard. He then went on to work in Sheet Metal at Chesapeake Dolphins in Delmar, MD for 9 years. Later on, he did several home and business remodeling for family and friends. People praised him for all of his talents, from designing to building.
Vaughn would eventually be dubbed with the nickname “Rudy”. He had a special way of making his family, friends and people he has encountered over the years smile and laugh If you knew Vaughn then you knew he loved nothing more then spending time with his family and friends. Vaughn loved telling stories, he had a story for everyone he knew. He was a jokester, no matter what came to his mind, he spoke it and found humor in every situation. He loved fishing and rooting for his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. There was never a dull moment with him, rather talking about sports, the news or somebody. He loved watching basketball and football. He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports. Vaughn was also known for being a “Superman,” there wasn’t nothing, he could not fix.
He loved people, materialistic things never matter to Vaughn, he just loved people. Around Christmas or the holidays, he would gather whatever little food he had and pass it out to homeless people downtown Baltimore.
Loving memories will remain with his five children; Shavaughn Church-Collins, Jovan Church-Tull, Brandon Whittington, Parris Burton & Jordan Burton. brother; Reginald Church, two sisters; Anne Church & Laura Church-Holland, sister-in-law; Betty Church, brother-in-law; Larry Holland, son-in-law Shawn Tull, grandchildren; Keyshawn Tull, Ryheam Tull, Jahcarre Collins, Dashone Whittington, Zalliah Whittington, Zaraiah Whittington, Yamoni Whittington, Kisa Collins, Caron Tull, Jahmarri Collins, Mah’lai Burton, Dezmir Tull, Jade Burton, Camden Aydelott, Kyan Heck, extended grandson, Shyheim Brinkley. He was proceeded in death by his father; Samuel Albert Church, mother Joan Oliva Church, brother, Andrew Nichols, and grandson, Jaylen Tull.
We would like to say that what matters most to Vaughn, is he wanted to be at peace. He was here to make us smile when we wanted to cry, to carry on legacies by sharing stories with everyone and anyone he knew and we embrace that. He loved his mother, father and brother more than anything and now he is with them. It was said that “Joan finally has both of her trouble-makers”. He will be missed but never forgotten.
