Harold Wilburn Sr. was born on December 28, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anita and the late Richard Wilburn, Sr. He departed this life peacefully on September 13, 2017, with his family at his side.
Harold received his education in the Chicago Cook County Public School System. After high school, Harold joined the United States Army in 1975. His military career took him to Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado, Fort Bliss in Texas, Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C., National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, and two overseas tours with Armed Forces Network in Frankfurt and Bremerhaven, West Germany, and an overseas tour in South Korea. After his military career, he worked as a Quality Manager with manufacturing companies in Illinois. His most recent employment was Del Star Technologies in Middletown, Delaware.
On August 18, 1982, he was united in holy matrimony with Regina Marie Chase. From this union, Harold, Jr. was born.
Harold enjoyed time spent visiting family and friends and was always the life of the party. He was an excellent cook and avid food critic who would give an unfiltered opinion on any food that he felt wasn’t up to standards. He was extremely forthright when communicating and one never had to guess how he felt about any issue. Harold was also a jokester and could keep you laughing endlessly with his antics.
Harold was predeceased by his father, Richard Wilburn, Sr.; older brother, Richard (Ricky) Wilburn Jr.; aunts Rose and Isey Dunbar; uncles, Robert and Howard Harold Dunbar; and grandparents, Robert, Sr. and Iva Marie Dunbar.
Harold leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Regina Marie Wilburn of Dover, DE; his mother, Anita Wilburn of Dover DE; his son, Harold Wilburn, Jr., of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; granddaughters, Kyana Elizabeth Girtley-Wilburn of Chicago, Illinois, and Faith Marie Wilburn-Mitchell of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; younger brother, Richard Wilburn Jr. (Kelly) of Calhoun, Georgia; a sister, Paula Wilburn (Terrelle) of Indianapolis, Indiana; his favorite “sister-cousin” Patricia Collins Dunn (Gracus) of Virginia; best friends, Gregory Isom of Washington, DC, and Steven Campbell of Frederick, Maryland
and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
