Mary Jane Marshall departed her loved ones from her home, on November 8, 2017. The youngest daughter of Horace P. and Pauline Boyd, she was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on July 22, 1936. She graduated from Tazewell High School, attended Bluefield State College, and ultimately received a Sociology degree from Delaware State University. She was a domestic engineer extraordinaire, upholstery shop and an antique store owner. Mary was a dedicated member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church. In addition, she spent numerous hours as a dedicated Delaware State College Athletic Booster and was inducted into the Delaware State University Athletic Hall of Fame in in 2015 and was recognized as a 2016 MEAC distinguished alumni from DSU.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Boyd. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, James Frank Marshall Sr.; children Penelope, James Frank Jr.( Brenda), Bruce, Kevin and “adopted” daughter Alexis Jordan; granddaughter, Jamie Marshall, mom-mom to Kareem and Jada; brother, Carl Boyd (Selba); godchildren, cousins, nieces, nephew, close friends and numerous mentees.
