Obituary for Vaughn Monroe Banks

Vaughn Monroe Banks
Vaughn Monroe Banks, born April 28, 1948, to the late Clifford Allen and Myrtle Catherine Matthews Banks, departed this life on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

“Brother” and “Fife”, as he was often called, received his early education in the Seaford School District. Vaughn attended William C. Jason Comprehensive High School and graduated from Seaford High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, which allowed him to travel throughout the world. Vaughn retired from the armed forces with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Business Education was his career path as he pursued his degree at Delaware State College/University. Vaughn held many federal and state managerial jobs and retired from the State of Delaware with more than 25 years of service.

Although known as a meek and quiet man, Vaughn was a historian, who loved educating you on anything military or political. The conversations would usually end with only his arguments being accepted, whether he was right or wrong. Some of his favorite past-times were weekly bowling, enjoying trips to the movies with his son, trying to convince people to play the lottery, going on road trips, and being a tour guide, especially at the Dover Air Force Base Museum. Rest assured, Vaughn loved his family. It didn’t matter how you were related, he treated everyone equal. Vaughn wasn’t about discourse, to know him was to show love, peace, and happiness.

Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and James “Clifford Jr.” Banks. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 41 years, Beverly Carr Banks; daughter, TaMaira Vaughna and son, Christopher VonAllyn Banks; all of Dover, DE; five siblings, Lettie Cannon (Carlton) of Hazlet, NJ, Jean Fletcher (Charles-deceased), Joan Banks and Carolyn Banks, both of Seaford, DE, and Terrence Banks of Raleigh-Durham, NC; mother-in-law, Agusta Carr-Ross of Bridgeville, DE; sister-in-law, Jayne Alexander (Michael) of Hampton, VA; brothers-in-law, Douglas Carr of Dover, DE, William D. Carr of Middletown, DE, Richard Carr of Columbia, SC, Andre Carr (Youmana) of Atlanta, GA, Bernard W. Carr of Bridgeville, DE, Charles Jackson (Valerie) of Dover, DE, Everett Jackson (Carlene) of Dover, DE, Reginald Jackson (Christy) of Atlanta, GA and Melvin Jackson (Mae) of TX; godchildren, Timothy Cannon, Dyonne Wright, Avery Tunnell, Lauren Becton and Nikki Abbott and her children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lovingly Submitted,
The Family
